The Akhil Bhartiya Transport Association (ABTA) is the premier national federation representing the road transport fraternity of India across cargo, passenger, tourist, and logistics sectors. ABTA unites millions of truck owners, fleet operators, transport contractors, and commercial vehicle drivers under one strong national umbrella.

Key Objectives of the Association

• Abolition of Obsolete State Check-Posts & Barriers: Working proactively with the Union Government and State Administrations to eliminate redundant physical checkpoints, curbing transit delays and harassment.
• Standardized Freight Rate Formulation: Pushing for a rationalized per-kilometer freight pricing index tied to real fuel, toll, and operational costs to protect transport operators from predatory losses.
• Constitutional Voting Rights for 2+ Crore Drivers: Advocating for mobile / postal ballot voting rights for our millions of long-haul drivers who are unable to cast their vote on election days due to transit duty.
• Vehicle Fitness & Scrappage Norm Rationalization: Engaging the Ministry of Road Transport and Supreme Court panels to extend the commercial vehicle operational threshold based on scientific fitness and emissions testing rather than arbitrary chronological age.
• Toll Rationalization & Single-Point Clearance: Demanding uniform FASTag norms, elimination of wrongful double charges, and waiver of toll fees during highway congestion or breakdown situations.
• Driver Welfare, Social Security & Accidental Coverage: Establishing welfare and health checkup infrastructure along national freight corridors and demanding central pension/insurance schemes for drivers.
